The short narrative film Black, directed by Hamideh Moeinfar, won the award for Best Narrative Short Film in the Iranian Cinema section of the 12th ACTION ON FILM International Festival in the United States.
Distributed and promoted by the Independent Short Film Support Platform, the film tells the story of a woman struggling with doubt over whether to terminate her pregnancy. After being selected for the Khorshid Independent Film Festival and the Yari Iranian Film Festival in Sweden, the film went on to win the award for Best Narrative Short Film during its second international appearance in the Iranian Cinema section of the ACTION ON FILM Festival in the United States.
It is worth mentioning that the ACTION ON FILM Festival is organized with the aim of creating meaningful professional connections between filmmakers and various sectors of the global film industry. According to the festival’s regulations, only films that avoid political perspectives or negative portrayals of Iran are eligible to participate.
The 12th edition of the ACTION ON FILM Festival, held with the cooperation and support of the Independent Short Film Support Platform, took place in the United States from September 2 to 10, 2016.
