Introduction of the Iranian Cinema Jury at AOF USA

The members of the Iranian Cinema jury for the 13th edition of the Action on Film (AOF) Festival in the United States have been announced.
According to the Independent Short Film Support Platform, Nabi Zay, Mehdi Yarmohammadi, Maryam Pirband, and Mehrdad Sarlak have been appointed as the jury members for the Iranian Cinema section of the 13th AOF International Film Festival. They will be responsible for selecting and announcing the winning films in this category.
Nabi Zay
Head of the Foreign Films section at the Action on Film Festival (USA), film producer and director. Known for Del Weston on Film (2013), The Victims (2016), and Dr. Luciana on Aging and Falling (2015).
Mehdi Yarmohammadi
Full member of the Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association (House of Cinema), filmmaker and distributor of Iranian short and documentary films, founder and director of the Khorshid Independent Film Festival and the Independent Short Film Support Platform. He has participated in numerous domestic and international festivals, received multiple awards and a United Nations Peace Certificate of Appreciation, and has served on selection and jury panels of several film festivals. He was also a jury member of the 2nd Sahar International Festival in Manchester, UK, and the 12th AOF Festival in the USA, among others.
Maryam Pirband
BA in Business Economics; graduate of the Young Cinema Society and Young Filmmakers Association. Actress, producer, director, and writer of more than twenty short films, documentaries, TV series, and industrial/advertising productions in Iran and abroad. She has participated in numerous national and international festivals, won multiple awards, and served on various jury and selection committees, including the Salman Farsi Film Festival, Erbil International Film Festival, Nahal Festival, Lantern International Film Festival in Iraqi Kurdistan, Women’s Festival in Sulaymaniyah, Health Image Media Festival, and the AOF International Film Festival in the USA.
Mehrdad Sarlak
Graduate of MIT University; holds a BA in Mechanical Engineering and an MA in Technology Management. Producer of films such as FRONTERZ, Mothers, and television programs. He is also an actor in film and television. His film Mothers has received numerous awards, including Best Film at festivals such as HollyShorts, Revolt, and Urban World.
The 13th Action on Film Festival is being held with the aim of creating professional and effective connections between filmmakers and various branches of the global film industry. According to festival regulations, only films that do not portray political perspectives or negative depictions of Iran are eligible for participation.
Accepted films will be screened in major cinemas in Las Vegas, Arizona, and as in previous years, the festival catalogue will be distributed directly to leading global distributors.
The 13th edition of the Action on Film Festival will take place from August 17 to 26, 2017, in Las Vegas, USA, and will honor outstanding works in categories such as Best Short Film (documentary, fiction, experimental, animation), Best Feature Film (documentary, fiction), Best Actor, and Best First-Time Director, with honorary diplomas.
