Babak Karimi, a cinema actor, director, cinematographer, and editor, a graduate of cinematography from Italy and a film editor and cinema instructor in Italy, donated 23 behind-the-scenes photographs from the film “A Separation” to the Independent Short Film and Documentary Filmmakers Support Fund.
These photographs capture special moments from the behind-the-scenes of the only Iranian film to have won an Oscar Award. They were photographed by Babak Karimi himself (who was also one of the actors in this film) and, until now, had only been displayed in one exhibition in France.
The text accompanying the donation of this gift to the fund reads:
Every film is a journey.
A magical journey into an imaginary world.
Acting takes me back to my childhood — a time when my feet were on the ground and my mind was in the air.
“A Separation” was one of my best human experiences; I could feel it at the time.
These photographs are my memories of those moments from those days.
For the audience, it may be just a film, but for me, it is a chapter of my life.

It is worth mentioning that these gifts will soon be displayed and offered for sale at an exhibition attended by the donors. The proceeds will be used to support independent short film and documentary filmmakers, with priority given to the filmmakers selected at the Khorshid Festival.
