4 Awards from the Sahar Manchester Festival for “Zemestan Ast” (It Is Winter)

The short film “Zemestan Ast” (It Is Winter), directed by Sepideh Mirhosseini — which had recently been named Best Film on the Theme of Respect for Humanity at the Fifth Independent Khorshid Film Festival — swept four awards at the Sahar Festival in Manchester, England.
The film, distributed and presented by the Independent Short Film Support Base, had previously appeared at the Independent Khorshid Film Festival, the Kimiai Free Workshop Festival, the Image of the Year Celebration, and the SHORT FILM CORNER at the Cannes Film Festival in France. At the second edition of the International Sahar Festival in Manchester, England, competing in the Contemporary Iranian Cinema section, it went on to claim four of the festival’s top prizes: Best Film, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Best Makeup.
The film portrays the cold, distant relationships within a three-person family, as the son tries to sacrifice himself in an attempt to save them.
It is worth noting that the second edition of the International Sahar Festival — held with the aim of introducing contemporary Iranian cinema and the Iranian Nowruz tradition, as well as discovering independent films and creative filmmakers and bringing them to the attention of the wider film industry — took place from April 23 to 30, 2016, in Manchester, England.
