Two Films from the Independent Short Film Support Base at the Yari Festival

Among the films submitted by the Independent Short Film Support Base to the sixteenth edition of the Yari Iranian Film Festival in Sweden, two short fiction films — “Siah” (Black) directed by Hamideh Moeinifar and “Aheste Sedayam Kon” (Call Me Softly) directed by Hossein Mahabbadi — have made it into the short film competition section of this festival.
According to a report by the Short Film News Base, the sixteenth edition of the Yari Iranian Film Festival in Sweden will open with a tribute to the late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami. The Yari Festival — which every year dedicates all ticket sales revenue to supporting orphaned Iranian children — will this year open with a minute of silence in honor of the late Abbas Kiarostami. This year, sixteen short and feature films will be screened at the event. In the short film section, the following films will be presented: Re-Play directed by Shabnam Gholikhani, Tebgh-e Adat-e Hamishegi (Same Old Habit) directed by Mohammad Hamzei, Nazariye-ye Yadgiri-ye Ejtemaei (Social Learning Theory) directed by Pouria Heidari Oure, Aheste Sedayam Kon (Call Me Softly) directed by Hossein Mahabbadi, Beshin Azizam (Sit Down, My Dear) directed by Ali Nazari, Panjare-ye Baz (Open Window) directed by Afshin Rezaei, Mard-e Namaki (The Salt Man) directed by Seyyed Sajjad Mousavi, Piano directed by Amirali Alaei, Siah (Black) directed by Hamideh Moeinifar, and Kudakan-e Abri (Cloudy Children) directed by Reza Fahimi.
In the feature film section, the following films will be screened: Anar-haye Nares (Unripe Pomegranates) directed by Majidreza Mostafavi, Zapas directed by Borzu Niknejad, Khane-ye Dokhtar (The Girl’s House) directed by Shahram Shahosseini, Nahid directed by Aida Panahandeh, Fasl-e Faramoshi-ye Fariba (Fariba’s Season of Forgetting) directed by Abbas Rafei, and Chaharshanbeh 19 Ordibehesht (Wednesday, the 19th of Ordibehesht) directed by Vahid Jalilvand.
Alireza Mojallal, Reza Bagher, and Saeed Sharifian, alongside a Swedish jury panel, will judge the selected works of the festival and ultimately announce their choices in both the short film and feature film categories.
Pegah Ahangarani, Pejman Bazeghi, Mohammad Shayesteh, and Mahdi Soltani are the guests of this edition of the festival.
The sixteenth Yari Iranian Film Festival, managed by Sheida Shafiei, with the cooperation and media support of the Short Film News Base, will be held on September 24 and 25 in the two cities of Uppsala and Stockholm, Sweden.
