Among the films submitted by the Independent Short Film Support Platform to Portugal’s FIKE Festival, the short narrative film “Bayad Siyah” (It Must Be Black), directed by Baran Sarmad, has been selected for the festival’s main competition section.
The film, whose international distribution is handled by the Independent Short Film Support Platform, recently won the Best Dialogue-Free Film Award at the Lucania Film Festival in Italy and is currently competing in the main section of the Human Rights Festival in Spain.
The festival accepts short documentaries, narrative films, and animated films produced after 2012 and with a running time of less than 40 minutes. Eligible films must not be available online and preferably should not have been screened previously in Portugal.
If a film is selected for the festival, its director is invited to attend. Depending on the festival’s decision, participants may also have the opportunity to take part in workshops and specialized discussion panels.
The 12th FIKE Festival will be held in Portugal from October 21 to October 25, 2014.
