The short film It Is Winter, directed by Sepideh Mirhosseini, which had previously been selected as the Best Film on the theme of Respect for Humanity at the 5th Khorshid Independent Film Festival, won four awards at the Sahar Manchester Festival in the UK.
Distributed and promoted by the Independent Short Film Support Platform, the film had already screened at the Khorshid Independent Film Festival, the Kimiai Free Workshop Festival, the Image of the Year Celebration, and the SHORT FILM CORNER section of the Cannes Film Festival in France. It later went on to compete in the Contemporary Iranian Cinema section of the 2nd Sahar International Festival in Manchester, where it received the festival’s four main awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Makeup.
The film portrays the cold and emotionally distant relationships within a three-member family, as the son attempts to sacrifice himself in order to save them.
It is worth noting that the 2nd Sahar International Festival was held in Manchester, England, from April 23 to 30, 2016, with the aim of introducing contemporary Iranian cinema and the Iranian Nowruz tradition, as well as discovering independent films and creative filmmakers and presenting them to the film industry.
