Rooted in the Caribbean yet globally connected, the festival centers the voices of those most affected by these global shifts. BIFF places special emphasis on subaltern and indigenous narratives, fostering a space for meaningful dialogue regarding resistance, transformation, and a sustainable future.
Awards: Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Environmentally Focused Film (Impact Award), Best Experimental Film, Best Comedy, Best Student Director (Shorts), Best Actor, and additional special prizes.
Accepted Genres: Experimental, Narrative, Documentary, and Short Films.
Runtime: No specific limit for general categories; however, the grant category is strictly limited to 10 minutes or less.
Production Year: Films must have been completed on or after January 1, 2025.
Language & Subtitles: Films must be in English or, if in the original language, must have English subtitles.

Other Details:
- Upon submission, filmmakers must indicate whether their film will have its Barbadian, Caribbean, or World Premiere at the festival. Only films holding a “Barbadian Premiere” status are eligible for awards.
- Upon acceptance, filmmakers are required to provide high-resolution assets, including a poster, two still images, a director’s headshot, a director’s biography, a synopsis, a trailer, and an Electronic Press Kit (EPK).
- The filmmaker is solely responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses, copyrights, music clearances, and talent release forms. The festival assumes no liability for intellectual property infringement.
- All monetary awards are payable exclusively via international wire transfer.
- By submitting an entry, the filmmaker grants the festival the right to use promotional materials for festival marketing, media, and archival purposes.
