About the Festival: Detour is an independent film festival serving as a platform for films created with a bold and creative approach, free from the constraints of large-scale financing. The festival aims to support free-thinking filmmakers who, relying on pure ideas, create works that capture the audience’s heart and provoke deep reflection. The festival welcomes both traditional narrative films and experimental works produced independently, outside of mainstream production circuits.
Awards & Prizes: Based on a commitment to the principles of freedom and democracy in art, submission fees are either free or kept to a minimum. The festival does not provide screening fees or cash prizes. The primary objective is to elevate the standing of filmmakers and celebrate creative, independent works.
Eligible Genres:Experimental documentaries, narrative fiction films, and analogue animation.

Language & Subtitles:Films with dialogue must include English subtitles. If selected, the filmmaker must provide a timed subtitle file in .srt format (in English).

Additional Information:
- Entries must be original works, produced, written, and/or directed by the submitting filmmaker. The filmmaker is responsible for obtaining all necessary legal rights, clearances, and permissions.
- Films must be submitted via an online screener link.
- Each filmmaker may submit a maximum of two films.
- The festival reserves the right to screen selected films throughout the duration of the event. The festival is also authorized to use excerpts and stills from the films for promotional purposes regarding both the film and the festival itself.
- Once a film is selected and confirmed, it cannot be withdrawn from the festival.
- All decisions made by the festival judges are final and incontestable.
- Submission fees are non-refundable.
- Entries may be disqualified for inappropriate material, incomplete application materials/documentation, submission on unacceptable media formats, or failure to comply with festival criteria.
