Rahbar Ghanbari, a cinema director, writer, and producer, documentary filmmaker, and cinema instructor, donated a gift to the Independent Short Film and Documentary Filmmakers Support Fund.
The text accompanying the donation of this gift to the fund reads:
In the name of God
The statue of the Cyrus the Great Plaque, a sample of which is attached to this letter, belongs to the Iranian Chabok Riders Caravan, which in 2008 AD, after being registered in the global Olympic calendar, traveled by land from our country to the city of Beijing, the location of the Olympic Games.
Considering the participation of a documentary filmmaking group directed by me, the Chabok Riders Group, after receiving permission from our country’s National Olympic Committee as well as the Presidential Institution, agreed to my request to donate a limited number of these plaques to the country’s artists. Therefore, 11 copies of this plaque have previously been presented to other artists, and the current statue is being given to the Independent Short Film Support Base so that it may use it, in any way it deems appropriate, to support filmmakers.
I hope that this statue will prove effective in contributing to the growth and flourishing of independent short and documentary cinema.
